i feel like this is almost a silly thing to start off with but I feel like I’ve been learning this more and more with friends, family, coworkers etc.
the connection between two people and the effort put in are the most important things for a relationship… not necessarily what either of the people do or the way they are. that’s why sometimes people say that one of the most important thing in relationships is just to show up. It just seems so simple.. no changing yourself for other people, not bearing all of their emotional burdens… just showing up. Why is such a simple thing seem so profound to me at this moment??
I mentioned coworkers in the beginning and I feel like this still works technically as long as you’re also doing your required duties. I’ve always thought that I had to always go 110% with absolutely everything to the point of exhaustion to have a great relationship with coworkers and be successful at my job, but I realized I’ve had more success at my job with actually just asking them how their day was. And I hate that it’s that simple.
